My goal for my companion app is to make an easy to navigate, helpful wiki for people who could play the game. When researching a layout for my companion app I engaged in competitor research, examining various websites and companion apps, both official and fan made. Some of these that inspired me most were the Elden Ring Wiki by Fextralife, and the EA SPORTS FC™ 25 Companion app. The Elden Ring Wiki inspired my companion app's overall design, specifically, the black semi-transparent box holding the text in front of a larger background image. I was also a fan of the…

When creating the wireframe for my app, i organised 3 sections, those being the 'Main Game' 'DLC 1' and 'DLC 2' into individual boxes. Instead of designing my companion app for a game series, I chose to design it for a game and 2 DLCs, as the game was going to be large, and I didn't want to over-scope. The 3 boxes are connected to a 'Main Menu Screen'. I also used 2 stickers to keep track of completed and uncompleted work. When creating layouts for both DLCs I decided to make them a similar layout to the 'Main Game'.…

I decided to use simple and understandable icons for my buttons. Using a map for the maps screen, a checklist for the missions screen, etc. I created simple icons for buttons in Photoshop, maintaining the artistic style I used for…

Redesigning my companion app for a tablet was a rather simple process. As I had all of my buttons already saved as assets in my Figma project, as well as this I made copies of the text boxes when designing the mobile app. Since the buttons and text were what took me the most time to create, the fact I could simply insert copies into the tablet version saved a lot of time. I had to resize the background image, and while it looks slightly different from the mobile version, it still works. Due to the increased size of the…
